Frequently Asked Questions

What is an Integrative Maternal Support Practitioner/Postpartum Doula?

A Maternal Support Practitioner/Postpartum Doula is a trained professional who provides physical, emotional, and informational support to new parents and their families during the postpartum period, typically the first few weeks or months after childbirth. With my background in Integrative Health, I provide holistic support for the mother and newborn.

What does in-person postpartum care look like?

I offer various services, including helping with infant care, breastfeeding or bottle-feeding, providing emotional support, helping with light housekeeping, food preparation, and guidance on newborn care and parenting. I am there to nurture and empower mothers during the fourth trimester. Please visit my Services page to learn more about all that I offer with postpartum care.

How is a postpartum doula different from a midwife or nurse?

Postpartum doulas do not provide medical care. We are not trained to perform medical procedures or administer medication. My role is to offer physical and emotional support, assistance with baby care, and help adapt to the new family dynamic.

When should I hire a postpartum doula?

It is best to hire a postpartum doula in advance of your due date. You can arrange for their services to start immediately after childbirth, providing support from day one.

When should I start working with you?

It is best to start working together before your due date. I offer a free thirty-minute consultation to ensure we are the right fit. Upon purchasing my program, I will do a house visit to ensure you have the most efficient layout and everything you need for newborn/postpartum care. Even if you are 48 hours postpartum or four weeks, I am happy to meet you where you are and start working with you.

How long do most clients work with you?

The duration of postpartum doula support varies based on individual needs. I work with some families for a few weeks, while others may work with me for up to three to four months.

What are the benefits of working with You?

Everyone prepares for birth, but no one prepares for postpartum. I will be the person to hold your hand through the entire process. I know first-hand the pressures society puts on women to get their bodies back and do and be all the things. I will always be transparent and treat you as I would family. You know what is best for you and your family, and I want to be that person to provide you with all the information. There is no judgment, only empathy, and I am here for YOU!

Do you offer resources for in-depth help with breastfeeding, chiropractic care, tongue-ties, and therapy?

Yes, I have a team of professionals in all areas of Saint Louis to help with newborn and postpartum care for mothers. We are a team, and I will go above and beyond to connect you with the right person. I have spent years developing an amazing network and team.

Are you also a Birth Doula?

During special circumstances, I am able to step in and be your birth doula. But, my true passion is working with families once the baby arrives. If you are looking specifically for a birth doula only, I am happy to provide you with resources.
